USTA Junior Team Tennis

USTA Team TennisUSTA Team Tennis is a 6 to 8 week program of team practice and match play for children ages 4 to 18 where emphasis is placed on fun, fitness and the social benefits of tennis. Teams are comprised of players of similar age and skill, and they compete against other teams from the same area in one of three league divisions: 18 & under, 14 & under, or 12 & under. Players are grouped into either the beginner,  intermediate, or advanced group based on their ability levels.

USTA Team Tennis  leagues use formats that are easy to administer and accommodate all skill levels. The program is easy to organize. Only four teams are needed to start a league. Local parks, schools, clubs or neighborhoods can sponsor one or several teams.

It’s fun to play on a team, practice with friends and play matches together. Each match played counts toward the team’s score and is important in league standings. Any team meeting the regulation of 3 matches played and scores recorded on tennis link (with each advancing player having played in a minimum of 3 matches) is eligible to compete at the Tennessee State Championship.

Coaches

Any parent, tennis pro, teacher or adult community leader who has an interest in tennis and enjoys working with players can be a USTA Team Tennis coach. The USTA Tennessee several trainings to assist in developing parents as the coaches and coordinators of the local programs.
