USTA Team Tennis (Adults) |
|
USTA Team Tennis allows both junior and adult tennis players the opportunity to develop their basic tennis skills in an energetic, exciting and fun-filled team-spirited atmosphere. The program lasts for six to eight weeks and consists of weekly team practices and match play. Participants are given the opportunity to advance through local league play to the State Championship. The top teams then move on to the Southern Sectional Championship and then possibly the National Championships. Junior USTA Team Tennis participants qualify to compete in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Junior Olympic Games, the national event for USTA Team Tennis. The AAU Junior Olympic Games host over 32 different sporting events each year in the United States. In 1995 the USTA formed a relationship with the AAU and the sport of tennis was included into the event. After completing USTA Team Tennis Adult, many players move on to the more competition-driven USTA League Tennis program. There are currently over 35,000 juniors and 15,500 adults enjoying tennis in this country through the USTA Team Tennis program. USTA Team Tennis State Coordinator
